We answer our own email
VolumeLens is made by a small team at Onzira Labs Private Limited. You will get a reply from someone who has read the code.
Licence problems
Lost key, new Mac, or a key that will not activate — email us with your order reference and we will fix it.
Security reports
Please report privately to support@onzira.com rather than publicly, and give us time to fix it.
What to include in a bug report
The more of this you can give us, the faster we can help.
- · What you were doing, and what happened instead
- · Your macOS version and Mac model
- · The VolumeLens version from the About screen
- · Whether the folder was on the startup disk, an external drive or a network volume
- · Roughly how many items the scan covered
Please do not send file listings or paths unless we ask and you are comfortable sharing them. We do not need them to reproduce most problems, and VolumeLens never collects them on its own.
Frequently asked questions
VolumeLens says some items could not be read. Why?
macOS protects certain folders, and an app in the sandbox cannot see inside them without permission. Rather than counting those as zero bytes, VolumeLens counts them and labels the totals as a lower bound. Scan a folder you own to avoid this, or grant Full Disk Access in System Settings → Privacy & Security if you specifically want protected locations included. That is your choice and never required.
The total does not match Finder or About This Mac. Which is right?
Both, measuring different things. A file has a nominal size and an amount of space it actually occupies; those differ for sparse files, compressed files, and files with several names (hard links). VolumeLens shows both, counts a hard-linked file once, and marks anything it could not read. Finder and About This Mac also include volume-level things no app can enumerate, such as APFS snapshots and purgeable space.
How do I clean up safely?
Select what you want, then read the review sheet. It lists exactly what will move, what is blocked and why, and collapses items already inside a selected folder. Items go to the Trash, so you can restore them until you empty it. If anything changed on disk since the scan, VolumeLens refuses to move it and tells you.
Something I selected was blocked. What does that mean?
VolumeLens refuses to move system locations, installed applications, sensitive Library folders such as Mail and Keychains, the inside of a package (the whole bundle goes or nothing does), the scanned folder itself, items it could not read, and anything already moved. The review sheet gives the exact reason for each.
Can I get files back after moving them?
Yes — they are in the Trash. Open it in Finder and use Put Back. Once you empty the Trash, recovery is up to your backups; VolumeLens never empties it for you.
Where do I enter my Pro licence key?
Settings → VolumeLens Pro. Paste the key that starts with
VL1. and press Activate. It is checked on your Mac, so it works with no internet connection. My licence key is not accepted.
Check that you copied the whole key including the
VL1. prefix, with no line break in the middle. If it still fails, email support@onzira.com with your order reference and we will reissue it.I want to move my licence to a different Mac.
Open Settings on the old Mac and choose Deactivate on this Mac, then activate on the new one. Your licence covers 3 of your own Macs; if you have run out because a Mac was lost or sold, email us and we will reset it.
I lost my licence key.
Email support@onzira.com from the address you bought with, or with your Razorpay payment id, and we will send it again.
Does VolumeLens slow down my Mac while scanning?
It reads directory metadata with a bounded number of concurrent readers, so the machine stays usable. A large scan is disk-bound; you can stop it by cancelling, and a cancelled scan still keeps everything it read.
Does it work offline?
Completely. The app contains no network code. Scanning, searching, Insights, cleanup and licence activation all happen on your Mac.
How do I remove VolumeLens and all its data?
Open Settings and choose Clear local scan data to remove snapshots and history, then quit and drag the app to the Trash. Everything else it stored lives in its own sandbox container and goes with the app.
Is there a Windows or Linux version?
No. VolumeLens is built specifically for macOS and uses macOS features throughout. There are no plans to port it.
Still stuck?
Write to us. Include as much of the checklist above as you can.
